Arvo Pärt composed Mozart-Adagio for Piano Trio in memory of his violinist friend Oleg Kagan, who died tragically young from cancer in 1990 at the age of 43.
Composer Biography
Jaan Rääts, an Estonian composer, studied piano at the Tartu High School and composition at the Tallinn Conservatory, later becoming a professor at the Estonian Academy of Music.
Composition History
Henryk Górecki's Lerchenmusik was commissioned for the Lerchenborg Music Days, a contemporary music festival, and was his first chamber piece in nearly fifteen years.
Instruments
Cellist Henri Demarquette plays "le Vaslin," a cello created by Stradivarius in 1725 and entrusted by LVMH/Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.
