The 2022 Husum festival, which inspired this album, was held in the spirit of Charles-Valentin Alkan's 'six small concerts' from the end of his life.

Charles-Valentin Alkan, a composer on this album, was admired by Liszt and Chopin, who was his neighbor; it was rumored Liszt only felt nervous performing when Alkan was in the audience.
Recording & Production
A stipulation for the Husum festival concerts was that each program had to include at least one piece by Charles-Valentin Alkan, including one of his thirty Chants.

Charles-Valentin Alkan, a composer featured on this album, entered the Paris Conservatoire at age six and won first prize for solfège at seven and a half.
Recording & Production
This album was recorded at the Husum festival of piano rarities, which held an additional short festival in June 2022 to compensate for pandemic-related cancellations.
