The name "Veits Quintet" comes from the Old High German word for "wood" or "forest," and also from the Veitskapelle in Mühlhausen/Stuttgart, where the ensemble first performed.

The Veits Quintet won first prize at the Braunschweig International Music Competition in 2013 and second prize at the International Carl Nielsen Chamber Music Competition in Copenhagen in 2015.
