The album's title, Refugium, was inspired by the concept of refuge, even though the term itself does not appear in the writings of Petar Hektorović, whose inscriptions inspired the work.

The Herz-Jesu-Kirche in Munich, where this album was recorded, is known as 'The Glass Cube' and houses a spectacular Woehl organ.
Composition History
Richard Wilberforce's The Song of Shadows was composed specifically for the Trinity Boys Choir and premiered in Munich during the recording of this CD.

Graham Lack's Refugium is written for three separate 'islands' of percussion instruments, combining ancient and modern types, alongside SATB choir and organ.
