Reiko Füting, born in 1970 in the German Democratic Republic, has taught composition and theory at Manhattan School of Music since 2000, where he is currently Dean of Academic Core and Head of Composition.

Reiko Füting's music theater composition, "Mechthild," is based on a libretto by Christian Lehnert, which adapts and narrates texts by Mechthild von Magdeburg.

Hanna Herfurtner, who sings Mechthild's Soul, is an experienced interpreter of both early and new music, having premiered numerous contemporary compositions and released a solo CD combining Bach arias with Alvin Lucier's 'Sitting in a Room.'
