Revueltas's ballet, La Coronela, was left unfinished at his death and completed by composers Blas Galindo and Candelario Huízar for its 1940 premiere.

Silvestre Revueltas, a Mexican composer, lived hard and died young in poverty at the age of 40, leaving a substantial body of revolutionary work.

This recording of La Coronela is a world premiere recording of the Limantour/Hernández Moncada version, which is the only surviving version of the work.
Performer Biography
Gisèle Ben-Dor, the conductor, was born and raised in Uruguay and is a persuasive champion of Latin American composers, including Revueltas.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Revueltas's music was deeply intertwined with Mexican national identity, much like the paintings of Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo.
