Martin Rummel, the cellist on this recording, was the last pupil of the legendary William Pleeth, who also taught Jacqueline du Pré.

Johann Nepomuk Mälzel, inventor of the metronome, also constructed several hearing aids for Ludwig van Beethoven, a famous German composer, between 1812 and 1814.
