The Gävle Symphony Orchestra, one of Sweden's oldest orchestras dating back to 1912, collaborated with the symphony orchestra in Dubrovnik to perform Benjamin Britten's War Requiem in support of war-torn Croatia.

The 'Swedish' Variations by Ries is a multi-thematic work based on three traditional melodies: Waggavisa (a cradle song), Skansk Bond Dans (a Scanish peasant dance), and Quarndansen (the Miller's Dance).
