Carl Heinrich Reinecke's 'Undine' Sonata, Op. 167, written in 1882, is based on the tragic fairy tale of Undine, published in 1811 by Friedrich de la Motte Fouqué.
Composition History
Mendelssohn's Sonata in F major for violin and piano was forgotten until the 1950s when Yehudi Menuhin, a famous violinist, rediscovered it and supervised its publication.
