In 2018, the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP) organized a year-long celebration to mark the 150th anniversary of the death of Italian composer Gioachino Rossini.

The performers on this album include Mark Fewer (violin) and Joel Quarrington (bass), two of Canada's most respected musicians, alongside rising stars Yolanda Bruno (violin) and Julian Schwarz (cello).
Recording & Production
This recording was made in November 2017 at the Lunenburg Academy of Music Performance (LAMP) recital hall, using a Critical Edition of the scores published in 2014 by the Fondazione Rossini Pesaro.
Composition History
The original manuscript of Rossini's sonatas was discovered in 1954 in the Library of Congress, revealing they were composed around the double bass, played by his host Agostino Triossi.
