Fabrizio Maria Carminati, the Italian conductor, made his debut in 1992 with Puccini's La Bohème in Turin and has held artistic director roles at Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo and Fondazione Arena di Verona.

Despite initial dismissal by the Opéra's literary jury for its 'wanton' plot, the revised French version of Moïse premiered successfully in 1827.
