Jeajoon Ryu, one of the most prominent composers of his generation, studied composition with two masters: Sukhi Kang in Seoul and Krzysztof Penderecki in Kraków.

This album was recorded at the Polish Radio Witold Lutosławski Concert Studio in Warsaw, with the Sinfonia da Requiem recorded in March 2008 and the Violin Concerto No. 1 in December 2006.

Jeajoon Ryu's Sinfonia da Requiem was hailed as 'a masterpiece' by Krzysztof Penderecki and received a ten-minute standing ovation at its 2008 premiere at the Ludwig van Beethoven Easter Festival in Warsaw.
