Maria Kliegel plays the legendary 'Ex Gendron' cello, made by Stradivarius in 1693, which was previously owned by Maurice Gendron for over thirty years.
Historical Context
In 1871, after the Franco-Prussian War, Saint-Saëns helped found the Société Nationale de Musique to promote French music, known as Ars Gallica.
