Francis Poulenc, born in Paris, was a member of the 'Groupe des Six' as a teenager, a group founded in 1918 by Erik Satie and Jean Cocteau.

Francis Poulenc's Organ Concerto was commissioned in 1934 by Winnaretta Singer, the wealthy daughter of American sewing machine inventor Isaac Merritt Singer, who was also a gifted pianist and organist.
Performer Biography
Iveta Apkalna, a Latvian organist, is the titular organist of the Klais organ at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany, and opened the new concert hall in January 2017.
Composition History
Camille Saint-Saëns dedicated his Organ Symphony to Franz Liszt, who died on July 31, 1886, and the symphony's structure is closely based on Liszt's Piano Sonata in B minor.
