Composer Biography
Sarti's career took him across Europe, including Copenhagen, London, Bologna, Venice, Milan, and a 17-year stay in St. Petersburg at the invitation of Catherine II of Russia.

Instruments
The harpsichord and concertato violin sonatas are performed using a 436-Hertz A, a pitch determined by Sarti himself in St. Petersburg through his studies in acoustics.
Cultural Impact
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart used an aria from Sarti's opera Fra i due litiganti il terzo gode as a theme for his Piano Variations K460/454a and as a quotation in his opera Don Giovanni.

This album features performances on six different historical keyboard instruments: a French double manual harpsichord, an Italian single manual harpsichord, two fortepianos, an organ, and a clavichord.
Composer Biography
Giuseppe Sarti, born in Faenza in 1729, studied with Padre Martini and became an organist at the Duomo of Faenza.
