Emil von Sauer's early compositions, such as his Espenlaub etude and the valse Echoes of Vienne, were very successful, with editions selling out almost as fast as they were printed.
Historical Context
Emil von Sauer became an honorary Knight of the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy in 1917, which led to the 'von' being added before his surname.
