Alessandro Scarlatti, born in Palermo in 1660, was considered the "corypheus" not only of the famous Neapolitan School but also of the entire Italian and European musical landscape.
Instruments
The organ used for this recording was built in 1854 by Antonio Sangalli for the S. Paolo Apostolo Parish Church in Ziano Piacentino, Italy, and was restored in 2004.
Interpretation
The performer, Francesco Tasini, often uses the organ's pedalboard like a double-bass to support the fundamental bass notes, a traditional organist's technique.

Alessandro Scarlatti was a member of the prestigious Accademia dell'Arcadia in Rome, founded in 1690, where he was known by the pseudonym Terpandro Azeriano.

Francesco Tasini, the organist, has recorded over 45 CDs for various labels and is a professor of Organ and Organ Composition at the G. Frescobaldi Conservatory in Ferrara.
