Gerard Schwarz, the composer of "Rudolf and Jeanette," returned to composition after a long absence, inspired by his previous work for Music of Remembrance.

Performer Biography

Mina Miller, the Artistic Director of Music of Remembrance, is also a pianist and celesta player on this recording, and founded the organization in 1998.

Composition History

Gerard Schwarz composed "Rudolf and Jeanette" as a tone poem in memory of his maternal grandparents, Rudolf and Jeanette Weiss, who were killed in a concentration camp in Riga, Latvia.

All works on this album were commissioned by Music of Remembrance, an organization dedicated to preserving the cultural legacy of Holocaust musicians and commissioning new works in their memory.
