Composition History
Schubert's famous 'Ave Maria' was composed in the summer of 1825, drawing text from Adam Storck's German translation of Sir Walter Scott's popular poem, 'The Lady of the Lake'.

Despite being one of the greatest German composers of the nineteenth century, recognition of Schubert's genius, particularly for his lieder, only came almost 50 years after his death.
Recording & Production
This album was recorded at the Royal Academy Hall of Music in Stockholm, Sweden, with the Mignon's Lieder recorded on March 15, 2003, and Ave Maria on November 2, 2007.
