César Franck's Sonata in A major, originally for violin and dedicated to virtuoso Eugène Ysaÿe, was transcribed for cello with the composer's consent by Jules Delsart.

This debut CD by Valentin Radutiu was produced as part of winning the 2008 'Sound and Explanation' violoncello competition, initiated by the Association of Arts and Culture of the German Economy.

Valentin Radutiu, the cellist on this recording, began cello lessons at age six with his father.
