Walter Mnatsakanov, the conductor, began his career in the mid-1960s after graduating from the Moscow and Leningrad Conservatories.

The ballet "The Lady and the Hooligan" was created in 1962 by Leningrad playwright A. Belinsky and choreographer K. Boyarsky, using existing music by Dmitri Shostakovich.
