Shostakovich composed his Second Piano Concerto in early 1957 for his son Maxim to play at his successful audition for the piano class at the Moscow Conservatory.
Performer Biography
Vladimir Jurowski, the conductor on this album, moved from Moscow to Germany in 1990 and completed his musical studies in Dresden and Berlin.
