The first version of Sibelius's Violin Concerto was premiered in 1904 with "indifferent results" and was later revised for a successful performance in Berlin in 1905.

Instruments

Henning Kraggerud performs on the Guarneri del Gesù 'Ole Bull' violin from 1744, provided by the Chi-Mei Cultural Foundation, Taiwan, and uses Ole Bull's only existing violin bow.
