The album's title, 'Signs of Occupation', carries a political significance, referencing Gerard Winstanley and the Diggers, a 17th-century group who occupied common land to assert the right of ordinary people to 'common wealth'.

James Weeks, the composer, is also a conductor, having founded EXAUDI Vocal Ensemble with Juliet Fraser in 2002, and is Associate Head of Composition at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama.

All tracks on this album were edited and mastered by Mark Knoop, who also performs accordion on 'Looping Busker Music' and piano on 'Three Trios'.
