Jacques Offenbach's opera Die Rheinnixen (The Rhine Nixies) failed to remain in the repertoire after its 1864 premiere, partly due to problems with its singers.

This album is a live recording from the Summer Night Concert of the Vienna Philharmonic, held on June 13, 2025, at Schloss Schönbrunn in Vienna.

Otto Nicolai, the founder of the Vienna Philharmonic, lived in the building that now houses the Vienna Philharmonic Museum and Historical Archive.
