Multispectral imaging was used to recover the erased music from the San Lorenzo Palimpsest, allowing scholars to see the largely destroyed music and text by photographing each leaf under different colors of light.
Performer Biography
La Morra, an international ensemble led by Corina Marti and Michał Gondko, was founded in 2000 at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis and is known for its interpretations of late medieval and early Renaissance repertories.
Composition History
The San Lorenzo Palimpsest, the source for this music, contains over 200 songs, including works by well-known Trecento composers and previously unknown music by Florentine father and son Giovanni and Piero Mazzuoli.
