Spontini's chamber music production used three languages for lyrics: mostly French, about ten in Italian, and only three in German.
Instruments
A guitar used on this recording is a copy of a celebrated model by luthier Jean-Nicolas Grobert, which belonged to both Niccolò Paganini and Hector Berlioz.

This album is the first complete recording of all Gaspare Spontini's vocal chamber music compositions discovered to date, resulting from eight years of research.

The recorded pieces are based on a collation of autograph manuscripts and printed editions to restore the composer's original intentions.
Instruments
The album features a Square Piano De Ruyter from 1840 and an Erard concert grand piano from 1869, among other period instruments.
Composition History
Spontini's vocal chamber music was often written to gain attention and protection from important figures, such as his composition Un oiseau tout fier des leçons, dedicated to Josephine Bonaparte.
