Carl Stamitz, son of the Mannheim School symphonist Jan Václav Antonín Stamic, composed his Opus 8 Quartets in Paris after leaving the Mannheim court orchestra in 1770.
Performer Biography
Alessandro Baccini, who plays cor anglais and oboe on this recording, made his concert debut at 22 as a soloist at the Gran Teatro La Fenice in Venice.

Michael Haydn's Divertimento in C major features an original choice of instruments, with the cor anglais playing in the 'viola register' and two 'bass voices' from the cello and double bass.
