Ständchen der Dinge
Winner of the 'Jahrespreis' 2018 - Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik.
Critic Heinz Zietsch writes: "Funeral marches play a pivotal role in this anniversary album by Franui. The village band makes its way from cemetery to dance floor. For a quarter of a decade, Franui – singing and playing – has been blurring lines across the whole spectrum of subtly ironic ambiguity. Crying and laughter merge in the arrangements by this 10-piece ensemble from east Tyrol, Austria – as do traditional and modern, earthy folk and rarified concert hall music. The actor Peter Simonischeck appears as guest in this birthday programme of novelties and forgotten oldies. Piper and Puppeteer Nikolaus Habjan and the poet Magnus Enzensberger also put in appearances.
