Composer Biography
Wilhelm Stenhammar, the composer, was often better known as a performer during his lifetime, both as a pianist and as a conductor, notably of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra.
Composition History
The original score and parts for Stenhammar's Piano Concerto No. 1 were believed lost in 1945 during the siege of Breslau, when Hainauer's music stock was destroyed.

Professor Allan B. Ho 'stumbled on' a second copy of Stenhammar's original score for his First Piano Concerto in the Library of Congress in the USA, leading to its rediscovery.
