Carl Wilhelm Eugen Stenhammar, a Swedish composer, began composing before receiving formal education and was considered the most refined Swedish pianist of his time.

Stenhammar's Fantasies Op. 11, composed in 1895, showcase his originality, with the third Fantasy paying homage to Brahms' Intermezzo Op. 117 No. 3.
Performer Biography
Paolo Scafarella, the pianist on this album, has won numerous piano competitions and is currently recording the complete Stenhammar concertos for piano and orchestra.

Stenhammar was initially influenced by Beethoven, Schumann, and Brahms, but later incorporated the music of his Swedish compatriots, Sibelius, and Nielsen into his style.
