Dima Slobodeniouk, the conductor on this album, was the music director of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia from 2013 to 2022 and has guest conducted many of the world's leading orchestras.

Recording & Production

This album was recorded in February 2019 and June 2023 at the Palacio de la Ópera, A Coruña, Spain, using microphones from Neumann, DPA, and Schoeps.

Composer's Artistic Vision

Stravinsky initially claimed music was "essentially powerless to express anything at all," but later reconsidered, calling his Symphony in Three Movements a "war symphony" directly responding to World War II.

While composing his Symphony in C, Stravinsky experienced personal tragedies, including the deaths of his daughter Ludmilla, his wife Ekaterina, and his mother, all from tuberculosis.
