Josef Suk married Otilie (Otilka) Dvorák, the daughter of his teacher Antonín Dvorák, in 1898, strengthening his links with the Dvorák family.

Josef Suk studied at the Prague Conservatory from 1885 and later completed a final year of study with Antonín Dvorák, who joined the Conservatory staff in 1891.

This recording was made in Potton Hall, Dunwich, Suffolk, between September 6-8, 2017, and features a Steinway & Sons piano.

Josef Suk, the composer, was tutored in his early years by his father, also named Josef Suk, who was a school- and choirmaster in the village of Krecovice.

Antonín Dvorák, Josef Suk's teacher and father-in-law, actively encouraged his pupils to develop their own musical languages rather than merely imitating him.
