1/7Recording & Production
The album features four different bands and their leaders: Cate Blanchett (as Lydia Tár) with the Dresdner Philharmonie, Hildur Guðnadóttir with the London Contemporary Orchestra, Martijn Sohier with The New Trombone Collective, and Natalie Murray Beale with the London Symphony Orchestra and soloist Sophie Kauer.
Album & Artwork
This concept album was created through a conversation between Hildur Guðnadóttir, Natalie Hayden, Mike Knobloch at Universal Music, and the creative team at Deutsche Grammophon.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Hildur Guðnadóttir, when scoring the film TÁR, aimed to avoid over-emphasizing the film's musical theme, as it is about people who make music.
Interpretation
The tracks on this album, like the film TÁR, are designed to allow the listener to experience the "messiness" involved in the creation of music.
Album & Artwork
The album was conceived to be bold and feature many 'firsts' because no one had ever produced an album like it before.
Recording & Production
The album also features the New Trombone Collective recreating Urbie Green's 1967 recording of "Here's That Rainy Day," and Sophie Kauer making her professional debut in rehearsal for the Elgar Cello Concerto.
Recording & Production
The album includes Cate Blanchett conducting rehearsals for Mahler's Fifth Symphony and Hildur Guðnadóttir's music for the film TÁR, as well as music inspired by it but not heard in the film.
