Erica Morini, a captivating woman violinist, was born in Trieste in 1904 to an Italian father and Austrian mother, and her family later moved to Vienna.

Recording & Production

This recording of the Tchaikovsky Violin Concerto with the Chicago Symphony under Désiré Defauw is considered more spontaneous than Erica Morini's later stereo LP version.

Erica Morini and her husband settled in the U.S. after the Anschluss in 1938 and became citizens in 1943.

By the time of her British debut, Erica Morini was playing the 1727 'Davidov' Stradivarius violin, a gift from her father, which was stolen just before her death.
