This album, featuring the Grieg Piano Concerto and Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2, is part of a special trilogy of recordings made at Abbey Road Studios in November 2019.
Composition History
The recording project originated from an idea by Dr. Susan Lim to create an orchestral piece, the Lim Fantasy of Companionship, based on songs from a musical called ALAN.
Performer Biography
This album is released in 2021 to salute pianist Tedd Joselson's 70th birthday celebrations.
Recording & Production
The Grieg Concerto on this album was recorded with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, while the Rachmaninov Piano Concerto No. 2 was recorded with the Philharmonia Orchestra, both conducted by Arthur Fagen.
Performer Biography
Pianist Tedd Joselson, who performs on this album, had been in retirement for 15-20 years in New York before being approached for this project in 2017.
Recording & Production
The three recordings in the trilogy, including this album, were mastered by Greg Calbi at Sterling Sound Studios in January 2020, just before the COVID-19 pandemic halted much of the music industry.
