Robert Hurwitz, the executive producer, recounts that Glenn Gould once said of Gidon Kremer: "There are those who say that, in the way he plays and in his attitudes about music, he resembles me. And after meeting him, I have to agree."
Interpretation
The album's concept was to build a "bridge" between J.S. Bach and contemporary times, with composer Giya Kancheli even titling his contribution "Bridges to Bach."

Composition History
All transcriptions and pieces on this album, except for Valentin Silvestrov's "Dedication to J.S.B.," were commissioned for and premiered at the Chamber Music Connects the World festival in Kronberg, Germany, on May 19, 2010.
