Sachiko Miyashita, the guitarist, won first prize in the Classical Guitar Competition in Tokyo in 1991 and second prize in the 2002 Andres Segovia International Competition in Spain, becoming the first Japanese person to do so.
Composer Biography
Agustín Barrios Mangoré, a Paraguayan composer, left Paraguay at age 25 and spent his life traveling and performing across South America, dying in another country.
Instruments
Sachiko Miyashita used two different guitars for this recording: a Yuichi Imai Limited Model 2011 for tracks 1-6 and 10-11, and an Arcángel Fernández 2007 for tracks 7-9.
