The piece 'After the Treewatcher' was inspired by Michael Gordon's 'The Treewatcher', which composer Jeffrey Brooks first heard as a student at Yale School of Music.

Composition History
The album's pieces were commissioned for the Bang on a Can Summer Festival at Mass MoCA and by the Thelma Hunter Fund of the American Composers Forum.
