Composer Biography
Frederic Mompou, the composer, had a Catalan father and a French mother from a distinguished family of bell makers, and was born next to his grandfather's bell foundry in Barcelona.

Recording & Production
This album was recorded in April 2024 at St John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood, London, using a Yamaha CFX Concert Grand piano.
Performer Biography
Paul Crossley, the pianist on this album, studied with Olivier Messiaen and Yvonne Loriod in Paris at their express invitation.
Interpretation
Mompou, the composer, believed that interpreting his music involved displacing each sensitive note from its exact metronomic place, following one's own sensibilities.

Mompou's early notation, which he called 'primitivista', often dispensed with bar lines, key signatures, tempi, attack, phrasing, and dynamics.
