Composer Biography
Laurids Lauridsen, a Danish composer featured on this album, became blind as a child and learned music at the Royal Institute for the Blind in Copenhagen.
Performer Biography
Before becoming a conductor, Thomas Jensen played cello in the Danish premieres of Beethoven's Ninth and Mahler's Fourth and Ninth symphonies.
Performer Biography
Thomas Jensen also played cello in the first performances of Carl Nielsen's Fourth and Fifth symphonies, as well as most of Jean Sibelius's symphonies, under the composers' batons.
