Composer Biography
Tomás Bretón (1850-1923) was born into a very modest family in Salamanca, Spain, but was able to study music thanks to an unusual artistic education institution.
Composition History
Tomás Bretón's First Symphony was composed when he was just 21, choosing symphonic creation over zarzuela, which was a more common path for composers of his generation.

This album features the first world recording of Tomás Bretón's First and Third Symphonies.
