The album was recorded at Inter Arts Center, Studio B, in October 2018, and mixed and edited by Jakob Riis at the same location.
Instruments
Stefan Östersjö plays an 11-stringed alto guitar built by Yoshimitsu Hoshino in 1984, which features five scale-tuned bass strings and six chord strings.
Compositional Technique
The music utilizes a scordatura (alternative tuning) with micro-tonal deviations, which forms the acoustic habitat of the music.
Performer Biography
Jakob Riis, an electro-acoustic musician, uses laptop and real-time processing in Max/MSP patches he has developed since 2002 for his work on integrating electronic and acoustic musical idioms.
Compositional Technique
The core organizing principle of the music involves carefully chiseled gestures, some of which are recorded sound files layered in loops and activated during performance as an archive.
