Michael Sanderling, the conductor, has been the Principal Conductor of the Luzerner Sinfonieorchester since the 2021/22 season, building on a long-standing collaboration.

The album includes a bonus track, an unplanned and spontaneous improvisation on a theme from the Haydn concerto, recorded at the end of the sessions.

The album aims to blend different musical styles and periods, including a concerto by Harry James that highlights brass and swing music.
Interpretation
Lucienne Renaudin Vary chose to play the Haydn and Hummel concertos on a B flat trumpet for its warmer sound, even though it is technically more difficult than an E flat trumpet.
