The album title, Tvær Hliðar/Two Sides, refers to the two contrasting parts of the album: one featuring Italian and Swedish Baroque music, and the other new Icelandic compositions.
Performer Biography
Barokkbandið Brák, the ensemble on this recording, was founded in 2015 by Icelandic violinists Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, Guðbjörg Hlín Guðmundsdóttir, and Laufey Jensdóttir.
Interpretation
All music on this album, both Baroque and contemporary Icelandic works, is performed on historical instruments from the Baroque era.

Barokkbandið Brák has been regularly nominated for the Icelandic Music Awards and won 'Concert of the Year' in 2020.
Composer Biography
Johan Joachim Agrell, a Swedish composer, studied in Uppsala and became Music Director of Nürnberg, where he met composers like Locatelli, Leclair, and Bach.
Performer Biography
Elfa Rún Kristinsdóttir, who leads Barokkbandið Brák, gained international prominence in 2006 by winning the Grand Prize, Audience Prize, and youngest finalist prize at the International Bach Competition in Leipzig.
