Vaughan Williams' Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis was commissioned for the 1910 Three Choirs Festival, to be performed in Gloucester Cathedral.

Critical Reception
Elgar's Introduction and Allegro for Strings did not receive a good reception at its 1905 premiere and only gained true recognition in the second half of the 20th century.
