The Piano Sonata in G minor, Op. 26, is Bendix's largest piano work and his longest composition overall, with a playing time of 45-50 minutes, and was composed during a tumultuous period in his private life.

Victor Bendix's first two opuses, Fünf Clavierstücke (Op. 1) and In kleinerem Style (Op. 2), were published in Germany, a result of his connections made during a trip to Bayreuth in 1872.

Victor Bendix, a Danish composer, pianist, and conductor, was a key figure in Danish music, composing over 100 works and performing for more than half a century.

Bendix was a controversial figure in Copenhagen's conservative musical scene, partly because he was Jewish and a freethinker, and also due to rumors of numerous scandalous love affairs.
Performer Biography
Isabel Carlander, the pianist on this album, is also a lawyer who graduated with one of the highest average grades of her year from the University of Copenhagen.
Recording & Production
This album is the first complete recording of all of Victor Bendix's published solo piano compositions, offering a new understanding of the composer.
Composer's Artistic Vision
Bendix was highly self-critical, assigning opus numbers to only 33 of his approximately 100 compositions, and he never allowed himself to create music that was not thoroughly composed.
