Heitor Villa-Lobos, the composer of the works on this album, received his first cello lessons from his amateur musician father, who used a viola more suited to the child's size.

Fabio Mechetti, the conductor on this album, has been Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Minas Gerais Philharmonic Orchestra since its formation in 2008 and also holds a Master's degree from the Juilliard School.
