Did you know?
1/7Composer's Artistic Vision
A notable feature of Viozzi's style is a sense of the arcane and magical, giving his music a surreal quality that sometimes seems to detach from reality.
Composer Biography
Giulio Viozzi (1912-1984) was a student of Antonio Illesberg (1882-1953), who considered Viozzi his most promising pupil.
Compositional Technique
Viozzi's musical language often incorporates unexpected echoes of folk tradition, such as those found in his 'Fantasia' (1964).
Interpretation
The performer, Andrea Gallo, consulted Viozzi's handwritten manuscripts at the Civico Museo Teatrale Carlo Schmidl in Trieste to correct errors in published editions and develop his own functional fingerings.
Performer Biography
Andrea Gallo, the guitarist on this recording, graduated with top honors from the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatoire in Milan and has won numerous national and international competitions.
