Nicholas Kraemer, the director and harpsichordist, began his career as a harpsichordist with groups like the Academy of St. Martin-in-the-Fields and the English Baroque Soloists, later extending to conducting.

Vivaldi left 27 concertos for cello, string orchestra, and basso continuo, with some preserved in the library of amateur cellist Count Rudolf Franz Erwein von Schönborn at Wiesentheid.

Raphael Wallfisch, the cellist on this recording, won the Gaspar Cassado International Cello Competition in Florence at age 24 and has performed worldwide.
